From our Perfume Pro Mandy and verified by MEL - we love these scents!
A few years ago, I discovered Deep Midnight Perfumes on Etsy. It quickly became one of my favorite things in the world. The owner creates scents that tell stories and that appeal the nerd in me. If you love literature, watch The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones, or enjoy matching your perfume to holidays then this shop will delight you. For what it's worth, these oils have been great for my sensitive skin and the owner has impeccable customer service. Plus the packaging is just perfect and she offers great sample sets so you can try all of these and more! Sample sets start at $12 and roller balls just $19. 1. Deep Midnight Perfumes "Charis" Charis is a soft sensual musk, dark sandalwood, and rich vanilla with the essence of vanilla bean added. I have a bottle in my night-stand drawer and wear it to bed. This stuff is peace in a bottle for me. It's not super-sweet, just comforting and soft. 2. Deep Midnight Perfumes "The Woman" I'm a huge Sherlock Holmes fan and I freely admit my favorite story is "A Scandal in Bohemia" because...Irene Adler. This character has a number of Indie Perfumes names after her, but I think this one is the best with it's notes of mallow blossom, jasmine, peony, honeysuckle, Egyptian musk, and opium accord. Give it a couple of minutes to get through the sharp opening of opium and musk and lovely flowers will come through. It's not "old-fashioned" at all, in fact, it smells like a very high-end modern floral. I wear this on days I need to feel like a slightly mysterious, smart woman who can take on anything. 3. Deep Midnight Perfumes "Dark Streets Shineth" I love the smell of incense at Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve and this perfume captures that scent and feeling perfectly. It's a tad sweeter that church incense with notes of firewood, Madagascar vanilla, Ethiopian incense, a touch of clove, saffron, and nutmeg. It's positively warm and your sweater will smell like heaven days later. That said, it doesn't have huge projection as often oils do not. I find it's perfect for cold, rainy, blustery days when you just want to cozy up with a book or Netflix. We cannot wait to hear what you think about these amazing scents this holiday season! -Mandy and MEL (all artwork and logos property of Deep Midnight Perfumes)

So I want to introduce you guys to a fantastic, polished professional and one of my best friends in the whole world - Mandy. She is beautiful, talented and, as she will admit, she is a perfumaholic! Please note the most amazing perfume baskets and sample drawer of a true perfume professional above! Now, we each get to partake in her amazing perfume wisdom to pick some great fall/winter beauty scents! From our Perfume Pro Mandy: As noted above, I'm a perfume fiend, I confess. I have a collection, I read perfume blogs, and I stalk websites for new releases. I send my friends samples and drag them to sniff perfume when we're shopping--they gracefully go along with my madness. I love that perfumes smell different on everyone and can smell differently sprayed on skin as opposed to sprayed on clothing. So here are my picks for fall that are easily found, not discontinued, and reasonably priced. Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme: This one is relatively new to the market. It was instant love for me. Noir Pour Femme’s notes include mandarin, bitter orange, ginger, rose absolute, jasmine accord, orange blossom, Indian kulfi accord, Madagascar vanilla, amber, Australian sandalwood, and lentisque resinoid. On my skin, it's spicy, slightly boozy (think bourbon bread pudding) creamy vanilla woods that feels downright sexy. If you wear it to work, be conservative with how much you spray. Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme Eau de Parfum is available in 30 ml ($85); 50 ml ($115); and 100 ml ($165) sizes. Givenchy Organza Indecence: This gem was discontinued then brought back--thank heavens! Organza Indecence has notes that include jacaranda wood (aka palisander or Brazilian rosewood), cinnamon, amber, vanilla and patchouli. On my skin, it's cinnamon first, then woods with the amber and vanilla coming through. It's cozy, and my little girl usually comments that I smell like snickerdoodles. That said, it's not as sweet as cookies, promise. Spray away, it's a scent that stays close to you. Givenchy Organza Indecence is available in 100 ml ($97). Etat Libre d’Orange--Like This by Tilda Swinton: Ok, let start with the mile long name. The name of the company is often referred to as Eldo. The name of the perfume is indeed "Like This." Tilda Swinton worked with perfumes to deveop a "homey" scent and hey, she's cool and it fits in with the company's marketing. With that out of the way, let's get done to the notes. Notes are listed as: yellow mandarin, ginger, pumpkin accord, immortelle, Moroccan neroli, rose de Grasse, vetiver, heliotrope, and musk. It's the immortelle that does it for me--it's a plant with honey, maple, and curry notes. The ginger brings a nice freshness too so that it never feels cloying or like a pumpkin spice candle. Two sprays last on me for half the day and it smells great the next day on a scarf or sweater. This is available in 50 ml ($85). Thank you so much Mandy! My credit card is already swiped for these great scents! To a beautiful smelling fall! |
