So this is one of many true confessions I am sure I will give on this blog. I use fillers. And I have for about 3 years. I have done them with a dermatologist that I totally trust - Dr Jennifer Peterson with Suzanne Bruce and Associates. She is amazing. Needless to say I trust her with my face!
At first my fillers started in just the folds around my nose. And then over the years it expanded to areas around my eyes, my chin and my lips. So what is it like? We should address the first question on many people's minds - pain. I use a topical numbing product you can buy over the counter to numb my face and lips. It is helps minimize any pain associated with the fillers. But I will tell you the pain level to me is not bad. It feels more like pressure in the face than pain. I am pretty sure that is because Dr. Peterson is fabulous at what she does but I don't think you should put pain on the list of reasons not to do fillers. I like fillers because there is an immediate result and no down time. I show you same day pictures of my procedure (below) so you can see your face immediately after. Also no one really knows you did it - they just know you look "refreshed." I have mostly noticed around the folds of my nose and the area under my eyes. I had not noticed how sunken my eyes had gotten and I am so glad I did the fillers there. I have also done my lips. I did not want to look like a Kardashian but wanted just a little more fullness. I love the help Dr. Peterson gave me to keep a natural look that really fits my face. The short of it is you don't need to scared of fillers. I will tell you the day of it you may feel a little tenderness in your face. I had to sleep on my back so my face was not on the pillow. I also got a little bruising under my eye and in one corner of my lips. See my pictures 5 days after procedure below with a little bruising. It was nothing that a little concealer and lipstick could not correct. All in all, I think it is totally worth it - just get a fabulous doctor you trust! If you are not ready to make the plunge I linked my four favorite products for immediate face lifts without having any doctor visits. I address eyes, face and neck with the best products I have used. The neck cream is doctor recommended to me and I have loved it. The face and eye masks and face cream were found by lots of trial and error. Just click on the pictures below to be taken to these great products. I would love to hear any other tips you may have or products you may like! Let's help lift our sisters up - literally!

If you have read my beauty posts you know that I am a big fan of La Mer. Why? Well 50 years ago an aerospace physicist Dr. Max Huber that worked with my home town's NASA space center was seriously burned in a laboratory accident. Nothing was on the market that could help so after 12 years and over 6000 experiments, La Mer biofermentation process was discovered and Dr. Huber finally found something that worked for his skin. La Mer still uses this biofermentation process with all natural ingredients of sea kelp, vitamins, minerals and essential oils that are fermented three to four months.
What does that mean for us? Well if you have sensitive skin like I do you are in luck. These all natural products are non irritating and ultra moisturizing without clogging pores. They also help reduce inflammation from acne which is super important to me. I know these products are a little pricey but they are well worth it. A little goes a long way. And more importantly, the products actually work. I spend so much on all kinds of cheaper creams and serums only to find they really don't do my skin any benefits. Not so with La Mer. And now - I have found the ultimate starter kit with my favorite products. It is $150 (a $232 value) and ships for free. This is a fabulous deal to get to know this great line of products. Here are some more specific details on the products in this set. What it is: A classic selection of La Mer skin care, this introductory set reveals unmatched youthfulness, visibly renewing and rejuvenating so fine lines, wrinkles and pores look diminished. Set includes: - The Treatment Lotion (1 oz.): a rich and silky hydrator that visibly awakens the complexion and drives moisture deep into the skin. Somehow this products seems to make all my other products work better. It also acts as a good primer. - The Lifting Contour Serum (0.17 oz.): a sculpting serum that visibly elevates, contours and transforms facial definition. I love this on my neck and jowl area. - Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream (0.5 oz.): born from the sea, the legendary Crème de la Mer has the power to transform the skin, rejuvenating and renewing even the driest complexions. This is an every day, twice a day item for me. I now buy this in the largest tub they sell because I use it so much. - The Eye Concentrate (0.1 oz.): a deeply conditioning cream formulated with hematite, a magnetically charged mineral, to help dramatically dissolve the appearance of dark circles, surface discoloration and unevenness. The best part of this is that it is non-drying. I have sensitive eye skin that often flakes with harsher products. Not so here. I know you will love these products as much as I do and will quickly be a convert! Enjoy! |
