Plumped Up - The Truth About Facial Fillers

So this is one of many true confessions I am sure I will give on this blog.  I use fillers.  And I have for about 3 years.  I have done them with a dermatologist that I totally trust - Dr Jennifer Peterson with Suzanne Bruce and Associates. She is amazing.  Needless to say I trust her with my face!

At first my fillers started in just the folds around my nose. And then over the years it expanded to areas around my eyes, my chin and my lips.

So what is it like? We should address the first question on many people's minds - pain. I use a topical numbing product you can buy over the counter to numb my face and lips. It is helps minimize any pain associated with the fillers.  But I will tell you the pain level to me is not bad. It feels more like pressure in the face than pain.  I am pretty sure that is because Dr. Peterson is fabulous at what she does but I don't think you should put pain on the list of reasons not to do fillers.

I like fillers because there is an immediate result and no down time. I show you same day pictures of my procedure (below) so you can see your face immediately after.  Also no one really knows you did it - they just know you look "refreshed." I have mostly noticed around the folds of my nose and the area under my eyes. I had not noticed how sunken my eyes had gotten and I am so glad I did the fillers there.  I have also done my lips. I did not want to look like a Kardashian but wanted just a little more fullness. I love the help Dr. Peterson gave me to keep a natural look that really fits my face.

The short of it is you don't need to scared of fillers. I will tell you the day of it you may feel a little tenderness in your face. I had to sleep on my back so my face was not on the pillow. I also got a little bruising under my eye and in one corner of my lips.  See my pictures 5 days after procedure below with a little bruising.  It was nothing that a little concealer and lipstick could not correct. All in all, I think it is totally worth it - just get a fabulous doctor you trust!

If you are not ready to make the plunge I linked my four favorite products for immediate face lifts without having any doctor visits.  I address eyes, face and neck with the best products I have used.  The neck cream is doctor recommended to me and I have loved it. The face and eye masks and face cream were found by lots of trial and error.  Just click on the pictures below to be taken to these great products.

I would love to hear any other tips you may have or products you may like!  Let's help lift our sisters up - literally!
