I love my town but there is definitely some long drive times when meetings bring you across town or you have an hour or more commute. When you’re dedicated to your career, there’s a chance that you could be on the road travelling to different meetings, or even to pitch to potential clients. That means a lot of your time is going to be spent in your car, so we’ve compiled a list of things that all career "driven" people should keep in their car so that the long journeys are that little bit more bearable and can keep you at the top of your game!
1. Handsfree kit
We don’t need to lecture you on why this is important, but they can also come in handy in those situations where you’re in a last minute panic to get to a business meeting and you need to discuss details with your colleagues. 2. Spare fuel There’s always going to be that rare occasion where you forget to fill up your car before heading out on a long journey and of course, your car will run out of fuel between stops. Solve this dilemma by keeping a gas oil fuelbox in the trunk of your car. 3. Sunglasses Come on, who doesn’t want sunglasses when they’re driving? Sunglasses also protect the eyes from the glare when you’re driving, so keep yourself safe and look super cool at the same time. We have some swoon worthy sunnies linked below. 4. The stocked makeup kit On long driving days, you may need to re-touch between meetings. I like to keep an extra makeup kit in the car with a few essentials to keep me looking refreshed between my 9 am, noon, and 4 pm meetings. 5. Seat warmer We already sit for hours on end at our desks. Why not make our commute a little better? Grab yourself a seat warmer fitted with a back massager so that you don’t end up with back problems and can also keep yourself nice and toasty on those colder days! 6. Office Supplies and Business Cards I always have an extra notepad, pens, and business cards in my car. You may be running from meeting to meeting and it is always nice to have extra office supplies on hand so you are always prepared. 7. Water and food There are some days when you are running from meeting to meeting without any time to stop for quick bite to eat. And if you are like me, that could be detrimental to your ability to find your sweet face when your "hangry" face wants to come roaring out! Make sure you’ve always got a supply of water and dry food so that you can stay replenished while zipping between your workday meetings I like to keep my own water bottles with me at all times and have linked some of my go-to long lasting snacks and drinks below. 8. Coats and Blankets Another one of those situations that you don’t want to be in, but you never know when your car might cut out on a cold day or it just may be cold in the next meeting you are attending. Keep some blankets or a warm coat in the car so that you can stay warm if needed! I tend to keep a neutral coat or heaving cardigan in the car that can easily go with any work outfit and I have linked some of my favorites below. 9. Sat nav and a map (really!) Your sat nav is the most convenient way of getting from A to B, so make sure that it’s always in the car and that it always has it’s leads so that you don’t run out of battery on an especially important journey. I also still keep a key map in my car - yes the old school kind. If you battery runs out or weather is really bad and you cannot get reception you may need it! 10. Emergency contacts - including your secretary and your boss! You never know when you’re going to get stuck in traffic, or going to break down, so make sure you’ve got a handwritten list of emergency contacts in your car so that you can get in contact with people, especially for those times where your phone battery runs out! Plus you always want to make sure business colleagues know where you are so always be able to get in touch with them! What are your car essentials to make sure nothing slows you down?
