![]() I don't know about you but I am just getting started on the fall/winter party scene. In both my work and personal life, I go to lots of galas and weddings this time of year through December. Now is a good time to check your closets and update your pieces so you can be ready without rushing for the next formal event that comes your way! I have a few dresses I have picked out that are appropriate to be out with work friends or even bosses. I do think there are a few limitations on some outfits when it is a work related event - i.e. nothing too short, too low cut, etc. But you can still look fashionable and show your own personality! Below are some of my picks for this season from Nordstrom and Camille Beth - most on sale now! 1) Black lace dress by Eliza J that is anything but basic - knee length dress can go for cocktail or evening wedding and on sale now for just $88! 2) Fall Floral dress by Betsy Johnson (knee length) that can be dressed up for any fall event. It comes in three different fall floral prints too! Just $99. 3) Long Formal by Vince Camuto has so much style with black geometric sequins you will be sure to stand out in this stunner! Just $240. 4) Long Ivory and Taupe Sequin Gown by Ralph Lauren will surely stand turn heads. This is very similar to my to my ivory dress below but straight lines. On sale for just $210! 5) Camilyn Beth Go Go Dress - White knee length look below. They are one of my favorites. Easy to dress up or down and available in lots of colors. I linked to the pink one! Too fun. $290. This dress also comes in floor length. I think you will love this site. The quality is amazing! Above and below are some of my current pieces I have sported this September 2016. Dresses from Elizabeth Anthony and Camilyn Beth and jewelry from Alexis Bittar and J Landa.

So I am loving getting my fall colors out and changing up the patterns and textures. You will see I am loving gray this season by the below pants! These are a few of my picks to add some good staples to your fall wardrobe without breaking the bank. To me these are pieces you can easily layer with scarves, jackets or jewelry to dress up or down for more formal business attire or a night on the town! Hope you have a great weekend! ![]() Right now my favorite Sloan fit pants (both gray and black above) as well as all other regular price bottoms are on sale for 30% off at Banana Republic through September 26th. Click here to get to your favorite fit pants to add to your fall wardrobe! I will note I just added a fall pink herringbone pant (yeah!) to my wardrobe in the Ryan fit. Can't wait to show you this one. This Lush top shown above in olive and dark blush is also on sale at Nordstrom now for just $25! This has been a great staple for me for the last few months and I will definitely be buying it in some new colors. Note I think this runs a little large - I got a medium (I am 5'10" and pretty broad shoulders and it works well). Click here to get yours! There are also a little longer tunic styles of this top by Lush on sale here and here that offer some additional lengths and colors. I cannot wait to see how you dress these up this season! So I started off by saying that the idea of a work uniform has some good company - aka Michael Kors and Carolina Herrera and many more. For me that is how I have grown my wardrobe. Two more staples I wanted to share with you guys are my jackets and dresses. With the pants and shirts I gave you earlier this week you really can mix and match anything to last! The jacket - I love an open front jacket these days that creates a good silhouette. For me my current picks are Theory open jackets. They bring these back season over season. They are great to work as a suit if I have to go to court but also great to dress up jeans or do a more modern suit look like this with black Theory jacket (link above), Hudson jeans, Charming Charlie bag (some in this collection still available), and J Landa jewelry. The Dress - so my go to easy on, one and done dress is Nanette Lepore 3/4 sleeve dress. I have posted on my instagram about this dress and shown you just some of 8 colors of this dress I have - yes you read that right. I have plain colors in royal blue, brown, black, purple, navy, color blocks, herringbones....lots. It is so easy to travel with and it keeps coming back year after year. Throw a jacket on and you have a suit. It travels so well too with never a wrinkle. One of my favorite versions of this dress in color block is on sale now at Neiman Marcus for just $74! Check it out! (picture below).
I hope some of these staples help you with ideas for your own uniform styles that really make dressing each morning effortless because all the individual pieces look good together! ![]() My mom did not like the public schools where we lived so she worked as a PE teacher to help pay my way through private school. Everyday from kindergarten through 8th grade I wore a uniform. The idea of a uniform has stuck with me some 30+ years later and I view my own work wardrobe the same way. So my closet you will see my uniform pieces - my jackets, pants, skirts, dressed and tops - many of which look the same but I do my best to keep a fresh rotation with small tweaks. I think there is some "science" behind this or at least we are in good company for rinse and repeat philosophy of style. Have you ever seen Michael Kors - always in his signature black t-shirt and jeans or Carolina Herrera in her crisp white shirts? Well I try to do a little bit of the same. So I wanted to share a piece of the uniform that is one of my staples. The Sloan pant from Banana Republic. This is the right fit for my body but Banana Republic has some great fits that will work for almost any body type and they come in petite, regular and tall lengths! Hallelujah! I have at least ten pair of these in staple colors like black, tan, gray and blue and some fun patterned versions to keep it fresh. Always under $100 and last well. Pick below shows the sloan pants in a great pattern. The other staple that I swear by Majestic Filatures. The quality of these shirts is amazing. Never pill, always lay well against the body and keep their shape. They are a little more expensive but if you ever have to take off your jacket you will love what's underneath and always look #polished! This should get you going on your work uniforms. I would love to hear some of your staples that get you through the week! I mentioned the things I do to try to keep it fresh. Check out the jewelry in above pictures. I always try to add some fresh jewelry to always keep the classic looks new. All jewelry above is by J Landa. |
