The working world will never stay the same. Each new generation will change the professional landscape and alter previous career options. Some might say that it's just a matter of time when this happens, but other things like advancements made in technology also have a big impact on the career landscape for each new generation. For example, when the internet came into being, people were amazed but there were only a few hundred websites online. When businesses realized that they could sell their products online, suddenly the younger generation was focused on becoming website designers and software developers. We are living in a similar era, whereby new jobs are being created daily and the new millennial generation and beyond will be the beneficiary of these new career options. As someone who started "doing" social media and creating an online presence later in life, I wish I could have had some of these skills in my tool belt prior to starting this journey. But the next generation will be sure to capitalize on these 3 job options!
1. Online video platforms YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world and it is quickly replacing the tradition tv watching of many. Ordinary people can upload their videos onto the website and generate a large following. This content creation allows them to be online celebrities if you will. Advertisements played on their videos is how they can make money and many people have become full-time ‘YouTubers’. The better a video is in terms of its production quality, the more people are going to respond positively to it. So a new job that has come about in the way of video editing for influencers and professional content creators. Different people have their own way of making a video and their own style of how it should look. Therefore if you are highly proficient with the latest editing software, you can offer your services to YouTubers (or businesses who want to showcase their products through video) who can then hire you professionally. 2. Overtaking Hollywood Through Gaming Online gaming streams have exploded in the last 5 years. Competitive gameplay streamed online has become a massively lucrative business. A player that is highly skilled, making great plays and being entertaining is a magnet for the younger audiences. One of the most widely played games right now is Fortnite, an online battle royale that pits 100 random people against one another to see who can make it out on top. People like Nick Gross have become successful to the point that it has become their full-time job. Check out Nick Gross' mentorship program if you are someone who loves to game competitively and wishes to gain a large audience playing Fortnite especially. It's a 3rd-person shooter so your skills of movement, tactical awareness and teamwork are important to keep improving. 3. Vlogger on the go As you can imagine, millennials are prone to traveling. However, there are so many choices of where to go, it's difficult to make a sound financial choice. If you aren’t shy in front of the camera, you can travel around the world making videos about what are doing and experiencing. Someone like Mark Wiens has become very popular because he travels around the world, trying out different cuisines. He’s just trying out the local food of the particular nation he’s in and video logging the best bits of his day. He regularly gets millions of views. The world of work will never be the same thanks to this millennials generation. However, you’ll be saying that in 5 to 10 years again, because the new generation will change the landscape of the professional environment again.

I love this article! I think it's very interesting that the job options available to me were not available to my parents. Sometimes, the jobs I stumble across are so new it can even be hard to find professional training for them! Your focus on social media here is definitely accurate and relevant. However, I think a lot of people are overlooking the new job options that operate in the background of social media like influencer management, podcast research/editing, and SM account management. Thanks again for your article!
