When doing business, we can feel the need to show that we are a total boss in the boardroom. We spend so many hour of our day at the office, solving problems, negotiating deals, and staying on top of our game in the work world. But, when we leave the office, do we really need to take this boss mode home with us? Separating Your Work And Home Life
It's easier said than done, but when a business takes up so much of your life, you can feel your shoulders tense with business worries on a constant basis. For your own frame of mind, you have to learn to separate the two entities. Leaving work at work is very difficult and if you are someone that checks their emails at 3 in the morning because they cannot sleep, It's these little temptations that have to go. Maybe having a phone for work purposes that you can switch off is a place to begin, and once you've got rid of any temptations to do work, after a while, you won't even think about it. Preparing Your Mind For Battle, And Preparing It For Calm If you find yourself coming home and embodying the characteristics of a boss as opposed to a friend, a mother, or a wife, you may not see the same benefits in your home life as you do in the office. You likely should not constantly be in boss mode. A friend may need an ear to listen as opposed to a problem solver. If you work in a busy office environment where everything is going a mile a minute and then come home to a much slower pace, this can be a shock and it may be hard to take off that boss babe mentality and slow down to be in tune with the relationships you support on the home front. Some ideas that may help you switch gears are using online meditation or preparing yourself by priming your mindset for your home environments and knowing what is important when you leave the office. Listening To Those That Care About You Feedback in business and in life helps us to improve. When you're looking to make these positive changes, some new goals are never a bad thing. Listening to those that care about you, especially if you're bringing your work home, can make you realize just how much you've been neglecting them or how much you're not focused on the things that really matter. Understandably, you care about your business, but if you've got a family, and you're not focused on them when you need to be, they're going to feel neglected. It's like if you have children and they want you to play with them, but you're thinking about a work deadline; you're not there in the present moment. Your family and friends can tell when your mind is somewhere else so stay attuned to those that love and ask them to help you separate office and home life. You don't have to be a boss all the time! You can kick up your heels and be present with the family and friends around you with these few simple separations.
