There's often a time in just about any career when you have to pack up your bags and move on. When this time comes it can be for one of several different reasons. If you are feeling as if it's time for you to change your career but you're not quite sure whether what you're feeling is just a whim or if it should be a serious consideration, there are some things that will give you clear signals that it's time for you to make a u-turn. Here's a look at some of the major signals that you need to contemplate a career change. No Passion
One of the biggest signs you need to change careers is that you have a lack of passion for your current job. If your work no longer makes you feel inspired inside and you feel as if there's a millstone around your neck, every time you have to crawl out of bed, or something is off then it may truly be time for a change. This is not the way you should be feeling when starting out your day. It's an indication that you have outgrown where you are currently, and you need to take steps to move on. You are Stagnant Feeling as if you are stagnant goes hand in hand with the feeling that you should probably be looking into a new career path. If you hit some kind of a plateau and there is no chance of you developing it may be time for you to explore those unbeaten paths that your eyes have been roaming and your heart has been pulling you towards. Maybe it's time for you to move to a new city, and reading a new Checkr's report on the best cities for corporate jobs may be just what you need to make your decision. You might find that there is potential for some advancement in a new location. You are Burnt Out If you find yourself feeling burnt out and chronically stressed, it's a good idea for you to take a step back and look to see if you really need to make that all-important career change. Remember that your well-being is paramount and the change may be necessary for your mental and emotional health. No Work Work-Life Balance A complete lack of work-life balance may be the signal that you need to point you in a whole other direction. If you're working excessive hours and it's bringing your personal life down the drain, move on. If you also find that your energy feels as if it's being flushed consistently, it may be because you don't have a proper work-life balance. It’s Negative Let's face it, the environment that you are in can have a huge impact on your mental health and your physical well-being as well. If there are tremendous interpersonal conflicts and you feel as if you are stepping on rocky paths or dodging minefields on a consistent basis. It's a great idea for you to consider pivoting before your health goes off the rails. So with all this information, is it time for you to make that switch?
