Under Pressure - Top Roles for Those Who Can Take the Heat

Not everyone is suited to working in high-pressure environments. However, for those who thrive with deadlines and big stakes, there are various career paths that you might consider.  Try these ideas to inspire you in your next career move.
Litigation
You may know this is where I had to start.  Law is a tough career. Rarely do people ask to speak to a  lawyer when everything is going well  (We even did a whole YouTube series on how to decide if  law is the right career for you).  But if you thrive on deadlines and like "performance" then a job in litigation may be right for you. Trying your client's case to a judge or jury is always an honor and certainly high pressure. It has its downs too, but litigation is in short, thrilling and no case is ever the same.

Medicine
Not all roles in medicine are extremely fast-paced, but there's often a lot of pressure. You have  people's health in your hands. Those who want to work under a lot of pressure might consider working in emergency medicine. It's a non-stop environment where you can be dealing with a broad range of issues and emergencies at any moment.

Culinary Arts
You might be surprised to know that working in kitchens can mean dealing with high-pressure environments. Professional kitchens are fast-paced, busy and often run with an iron fist. Many people also find it rewarding, especially when they have the opportunity to be creative. You need to be passionate about food and cooking to work in a professional kitchen, and work well in a team.

Crisis Management
If fixing problems is what makes you happy, working in crisis management could be for you. People working in public administration might find this an area of interest, as public administrators are required to help organize relief when a crisis occurs. A public administration degree could be what gets you started in this career so you can put your problem-solving skills to good use. Check out the graphic below for more ideas and don't forget to share your top high pressure jobs in the comments!
