If you know me, you know that I am totally a teeth person - as in that is always the first thing I notice about a person! As I have aged, I noticed that I really have to pay particular attention to the health of my teeth and gums. Most importantly to me, good teeth will mean I can still eat whatever I want. How many times have you heard an older person say they cannot eat an apple anymore, or nuts are out the question now their teeth are not so good? That does not have to be the case at all if we look after them properly.
The Correct Way To Clean Your Teeth And Gums
I used to think that the harder the bristles the better my teeth would get clean! Boy was I WRONG! The way to get the best results from brushing your teeth is to use a soft bristle toothbrush and make sure your brush all sides. My gums are more sensitive than they used to be so a soft bristle brush is key for me now. My dentist notes that small circular motions and short strokes will help to remove any plaque that has built up and keep your mouth healthy. My dentist also warns not to be too harsh along your gum line and to gently run the brush over your tongue to help to keep your mouth clean. Dental floss is a key to healthy gums and cavity prevention as this will get to the parts a brush cannot reach and will remove any bits of trapped food. Plus, I swear by an electric toothbrush that helps me get to hard to reach places in my mouth and between my teeth. Getting Rid Of The Yellow Tinge Apparently I have a the superpower to create plaque on my teeth - especially my bottom teeth but everyone’s teeth start to yellow as they get older, and cleaning alone will not get rid of this effect. I swear by at home whitening treatments to keep my smile bright. You can buy the best teeth whitening kit for far less than you might think and it will start to show results after just a few days. I have linked my favorite whitening kits below. You can widen your smile when your teeth have lost that yellow tinge, and be proud to show how good your teeth are. Pay Attention To Your Dentist You are going think I am totally weird, but I have always loved going to my dentist. They keep my pearly whites....pearly white! Dentists are very highly trained and will know the best way to treat your teeth and gums if you have a problem. They will also advise of the best ways to avoid future problems, and you should pay careful attention to what they say. Regular visits to the dentist are vital, especially as we start to get a little older. I noticed my gums in particular need all the attention they can get so I make sure to go every 6 months to my dentist. As we age there are some things we cannot do much about, but when it comes to your teeth there is a lot you can do to keep them healthy and looking good. It might take a little extra effort, but it is well worth it to be able to smile brightly each day. I have linked some of my favorite healthy teeth and gum products below.
