The signs of age catch us all eventually, and they can arrive sooner than you think. According to experts, your face starts to age in your late teens and early twenties (WHAT?). During this time, research shows that your skin and indeed face changes from being that of a teenager to that of a woman. The good news is that baby fat melts away around the time. The bad? It can be the first signs that you have started to get older.
Of course, ageing isn’t just about wrinkles and your skin losing its full elasticity. Ageing can hit you in a variety of different ways and show off various flaws all over your body rather than just one your face. Don’t forget, your nose is one of the only things that continue growing throughout your life. So, take a look at it right now and realise that in about thirty years it will be, somewhat noticeably, bigger. The question we need to ask then is how to handle the first signs of ageing. Should you cover them up, ignore them, embrace them or perhaps even take more drastic options. I have been fighting the good fight against aging since my mid-20s with botox, lasers and other treatments. There are a number of possibilities to consider here so let’s explore the choices.
Careful What You Eat
It is important to be aware that your diet can impact the rate at which you age. You need to make sure that you are not constantly chomping down on fast food and processed meals. These foods are filled with ingredients that are not beneficial for your body. More importantly, they don’t contain the things that your body desperately needs. Research has shown that eating all the right nutrients, minerals and vitamins will improve the health of your body and the health of your skin. So, if you are developing wrinkles and notice that you are aging faster than you would like, it is worth thinking about improving your diet. The main lesson is to make sure that you are aiming to meet the all-important five a day. Without all the right fruit and vegetables, you just won’t have what you need in your diet to stay healthy and more importantly, young. I always try to keep on hand easy snacks like carrots or apples to make sure I am easily able to add in these healthier foods when I get a craving. I have also been using this cookbook that really helps me get healthy foods into my diet. Don’t forget, there are a few ways that you can get the minerals and nutrients that you need without consuming them. One possibility to consider would be an organic face mask. Made of natural materials, this can be used to improve the aesthetics of your face including skin elasticity and even pigmentation. I am a big fan of this face mask which addressed pigmentation and brightens the complexion. Of course, watching what you eat will also have an impact on your figure, and that can be an issue too. As you get older, it becomes more difficult to take any weight that you put on back off again. It becomes a constant and this is the stage where it starts to impact your body. An example of this would be the infamous beer belly or middle age spread. When the weight around your stomach is soft, you’ll still find it easy to drop. But as it gets firmer it becomes more difficult to get rid of, regardless of how much you work out and how often you watch what you eat. Looking At Things Scientifically Of course, if you are struggling with the first signs of ageing and you’re worried about the effect that it is having on your body, you can take a scientific approach. You should consider whether perhaps it’s time to start looking a medical treatment that could help you. The thing to remember here is that the earlier you start, the more effective it’s going to be. That’s certainly true for botox. I started my botox pretty early and I have been happy with the results. Around your twenties and early thirties, you will start to develop surface wrinkles. These aren’t the lines of elderly women. Instead, these lines appear due to movement such as raising your eyebrows, squinting your eyes or perhaps frowning. All these movements can begin to show on your face through surface wrinkles such as creases across your forehead. Or, you might see lines around your lips from smiling. These can be eliminated with dermal fillers. I have been doing dermal fillers only in the last 5 years (starting in my mid-30s). Dermal fillers are a quick in-office procedure that will take minutes. As soon as you have the treatment, the lines of age will disappear like magic. Make sure you have a great doctor - because this can lead to some facial bruising if not done well. You know my go to is Dr. Jennifer Deaver Peterson. She has been doing my botox and fillers for years. What about fat freezing? Above, we mentioned how difficult it can be to drop those pounds once they have been on your body for a while. If you have reached this point, you might want to consider fat freezing as an option. You may have seen me post this recently. I recently did Cool Sculpting with Dr. Deaver Peterson as well and have loved the results. With this possibility, you can freeze the fat off you in a way that is safe and completely harmless. Using advanced tech fat cells in your body are targeted, killed and then drop off in the form of waste. It really is that simple and indeed, quick. I was only out for about a day but could resume regular activities the next day - and even better - no one knows you did it! The Problems With Concealing Wrinkles Of course, you might decide that rather than eliminating them, you’re going to cover up the signs of age instead. On the surface, this can seem like a rather sensible idea. Let’s face it these days, people where so much makeup that they look like a completely different person without it anyway. So why not be a celeb and plaster it on to the point where the signs of age are concealed? Well, you can but do be aware that it will make you look far worse without it. Particularly, if you are using makeup that contains materials that are not organic. This can cause your skin to lose it’s colour, increase the number of wrinkles or even lead to breakouts. If you are eager to conceal rather than to heal, it’s best to make sure that you are using completely organic products. You might think that right now you don’t have to worry about the signs of age, particularly if you’re still young. But if you take a long hard look in the mirror up close, focusing on the little details of your face, what do you see? The signs of age may already be there, and they will only grow from here. I hate this reality but it is true. So I plan to keep up the regimen I have come to follow with lasers botox, fillers and more plus using my go-to age fighting products that have been recommended to me by my doctors over the years.
