With the weather cooling down, my skin seems to go into hibernation mode. It can easily get dry or cracked when the temperatures drop and the humidity goes down. So what is a girl to do?
As you may know, I have pretty sensitive skin that often breaks out so I have to be careful when using moisturizers. If moisturizers are too harsh my skin will turn red and itchy. I am also always trying to fight signs of aging so I cannot use moisturizers for younger skin. Needless to say, its been trial and error to find the rights ones for each part of the body.
I have put together a list of my go-to moisturizers for the face, neck, hands and body. I try to make my moisturizers do double duty when I can - like tighten my neck skin, have an spf, or make cellulite disappear. That way I know when I moisturize my skin I am also getting some additional benefits. So here are my moisturizing dry skin savers: Face: I have used this face moisturizer for years. This face lotion does triple duty in my book because this moisturizer helps fight blemishes, has high spf for all day sun protection and is really moisturizing to my skin. Most spf or blemish fighting products are drying but this face lotion is not - it really gives all day moisture to my face. If your nose happens to be a little more dry from the sniffles, I use this nasal ointment for extra relief. Find out why this nasal ointment is a double duty favorite from my blog post on travel essentials. Neck/Chest: My neck skin is really sensitive so I have to be careful on lotions I choose to go on my neck area. I use this neck firming cream that moisturizes but also provides tightening benefits to prevent that crepey skin on my décolletage. This neck firming cream was recommended by my dermatologist and it has not disappointed. Lips: For some reason my lips need the most help so I tend to use a heavier moisturizer on my lips. I know this lip balm is not a fancy name brand but short answer is this lip balm delivers all day moisturizing relief to my lips and can also double as a cuticle moisturizer or spot treatment for really dry patches of skin. Hands and Nails: The hand moisturizer is tried and true but the shea butter in it the hand salve is what really stands out. The scent doubles as my perfume in the winter when perfumes irritate my dry skin. This hand moisturizer comes in several different scents like lavender apple, musk, delicate jasmine, and lavendar rose and so you can find the perfect lotion in your favorite fragrance. I find this hand lotion also nixes dry cuticles and if you need an extra help I recommend the lip balm above for long lasting cuticle help. Body: I get dry elbows, shins, and knees in the winter so I am always on the lookout for a winter skin saver. I also am fighting two things in the winter - super pale skin so I need to add a little color and the dreaded cellulite. I have found this this body lotion that help with giving my skin a moisturizing boost while also adding color and fighting the thigh dimples!
