The Secrets of Perfectly Polished Women

Perfectly polished women will make you look twice and wonder how they achieve being so put together and confident. Anyone else wonder how they do it? Distilling it down to some of its simplest forms, it really is not that hard to accomplish a perfectly polished look, as long as you know what to do.

They Follow A few Basic Rules

Next time you see women like this, stop a look a little closer. You will soon realize that perfectly polished women follow a few basic rules.

• Their clothes are usually timeless classics and include things like good quality t-shirts, black trousers, a blazer, and a black dress. They often dress them up a bit with scarves and belts, which can alter the whole appearance of an outfit. I show a basic white button down in my pics here (trying to pull of my own perfectly polished look - wink). But a good set of timeless basics that fit you well is always a good choice that you can add your own style/trends to suit your taste.  Plus timeless pieces are always a good investment as you will be able to wear them across seasons. I have this top I am wearing and these leather leggings I am wearing both in several colors.  When it fits well and its a classic you add to the collection and mix it up with accessories or cardigans or jackets for different looks (as shown in these pics).
• Their clothes are always a good fit, some of them probably having had them tailor-made. This is because sometimes that is the only way to get a perfect fit. I firmly believe a good tailor is your best friend - a suit from Walmart can look amazing if it fits you well.
• They use accessories wisely. They consider how their jewelry may compliment the entire look. They may put on several items and then take off those that don't work but they do take time to add accessories to a look. • They may walk past you every day and always look different. Keep your eyes peeled and you will notice that these perfected polished women go for quality, not quantity. They can wear the same thing but make it look different by using accessories that vary. See note above re timely classics.
• Their shoes are always spotless. Much like a tailor is your best friend - so is a good cobbler. If you are going to invest in shoes, keep them looking spotless. These shoes featured here were beat to shreds last season but with about $40 at a cobbler they were as good as new!
• They know what suits them. They do not always wear the most up to date fashions, but the clothes they do have are perfect for them.  I am a tall blogger, I am a mid-size blogger. I am a professional blogger. What does that mean? Every trend is likely not right for me to try at the office or on the weekend. Not every new trend suits me body type or my own personal aesthetic.  And that is ok! If you want people to look twice at you because you are perfectly polished, keep it simple (hello Michael Kors has something with his black tees and jackets). Makeup
Perfectly polished women never look like a painted doll. Their makeup is usually subtle, enhances their natural beauty and always looks fresh. The two places that I think really help you look fresh (or at least for me as I have aged) is paying attention to my eyebrows and eyelashes.  Defining my brows and lashes lifts my whole face and looks put together without an overdone feel. 

Simple Hair Styles
Generally, their hair is loose but very well groomed or in a simple style that is easy to maintain as the day progresses.  Side plaits, ponytails, and buns are a popular way for polished women to wear their hair, as they are very easy to take down and redo without having to spend hours on a difficult style. If you know me, you know that I love a good set of spin pins.  They are so easy to create an effortless bun and the best friend of those who don't have time to wash and dry their hair each day.

Keep It Simple And Smile
Perfectly polished women do not over adorn themselves with pieces of clothing or jewelry that are too flashy or gaudy as that will spoil the whole effect. Perfectly polished women are confident in their style and it shows.  They walk with confidence and a smile. A smile is the best way to get others to engage and want to get to know you and your perfectly polished look will just highlight your already amazing personality that you need to share!
