It’s not always easy to keep yourself well-groomed 24/7. Having a fulltime job is hard enough. Add to that personal and family commitments and you have a recipe for looking tired and frazzled most of the time. When you’re a busy professional, your personal appearance matters and it’s important you keep yourself looking well put together (even if you don’t feel it) so here are a few beauty hacks to keep you looking polished and professional.
Turn Your Sleep Into Real Beauty Sleep
You don’t always have the time to go to a spa and get a facial or a treatment at the salon. Instead, use the time you’re asleep to let products do their work. There are many overnight renewal hair masks and face treatments to choose from. We have linked some of our favorites below. Or you can learn how to make your own, try the School of Natural Skincare for courses and recipes for putting your own skincare regime together. Put them on at night before you go to bed and wash off in your morning shower. You can check out our other articles on how to make more at home masks here. Don’t Get An Over Elaborate Hairstyle When choosing a hairstyle, choose one that is low maintenance. Not all of us are blessed with easily manageable hair. Choose a cut that doesn’t require too many products or a lot of styling. I have loved adding bangs and cutting my hair just above my shoulders - it dries quicker and if all I have time to fix is my bangs, I can pull the rest bag in a neat bun and done! I linked some of my favorite hair products below so you can easily shop them. Think about your color too. Will you be maintaining it at home or will you have to visit a hair salon on a regular basis to keep it looking fresh? Products like dry shampoo or root cover-up are lifesavers for busy professionals. They’ll get you through those ‘in-between washes’ periods. Plus as a blonde (or frankly any color these days) you can find lots of ways to touch up your roots if you don't have time to get the salon. We added some of our favorite root cover up products below and we did a whole post on how to extend your "do" you should check out here. Perfect Your Makeup Routine A flattering, well-applied look can be a real confidence boost. Experiment with what looks good on you. If you’re not sure, most makeup counters at department stores will give you a makeover in the hopes that you will buy their products. Once you’ve found a look that you’re happy with, practice, practice, practice. You want to be able to perfect the look in the shortest time, with the fewest products. We also love products that will do double duty. They are easy way to flatter your style with easy application. Linked below is some of our favorite palettes, powders, and more. Consider Semi-Permanent Makeup For maximum timesaving, semi-permanent makeup is a good option. Instead of doing your makeup every day, you can potentially drop some parts of your routine for an entire year. The most popular places to have semi-permanent makeup applied are brown, lashes, eyeliner and lips. Today’s techniques and pigments are very advanced so you don’t need to worry about looking like a ventriloquist’s dummy. There’s even a trend for getting beauty spots or freckles on the skin after Meghan Markle made them popular again. Switch To Gel Nailpolish Well kept, unchipped nails are a must and you may not have time to visit a nail bar as often as you’d like. If you are doing your own manicures at home, switch to gel nail polish. It’s long-lasting and can remain chip-resistant for well over a week. Or keep it clear or light pink so that you never have to worry about a chip! We have our must have nail picks in the pictures below.
